Identify and analyze a real world lived experience, then design a technology enhanced concept that addresses its challenges and improves the experience through innovative, well presented solutions.

Pink Poppy Flowers

The product was developed under the brand name Tapit, as NFC is essentially a simple way of saying “tap and talk” when you bring your phone close to a small tag, they exchange information in just a second. To set our tags apart from what’s already on the market, I designed a series of illustrations and categorized them into five areas based on the developmental benefits of the toys. For example, a role play set that encourages caring for others would be tagged under empathy. To present this idea with a future focused vision, I also created 3D visualizations alongside the app interface.

The problem is that many kids’ toy packages are overloaded with information details about what the toy teaches, learning benefits, and more. When parents are shopping, they often don’t read all of this, missing the core value of the toy. As a result, the toy may lose its value over time and end up forgotten or in landfill. The concept is an NFC tag attached to the back of the toy packaging that can be scanned with a phone to reveal clear, categorized information about the toy. This allows parents to quickly understand its educational value, make smarter choices, and reduce unnecessary toy waste.
